Sweat is the main thing that makes our feet smell bad. Bad smelling feet is mainly due to sweat building up in our shoes and in our socks. The sweat is usually trapped in the socks or the insides of the shoes and after a long period of time the smells start to come out.

Athlete's foot is a fungus caused by a yeast called Candida Albicans. It is the same yeast that is responsible for vaginal infections and oral thrush. Yeast thrives in environments that are dark, moist and warm and since our feet are covered in socks and shoes, this make them a prime candidate for infection.
